Holistic Hiking Tours

Remedy Adventure offers low impact, nature-based tourism in natural settings in Nova Scotia, through small group multi-day holistic hiking tours, designed to engage your senses and make connections on an emotional, physical, or spiritual level. We help you to embrace the serenity of the land around you by providing integrated, mindful opportunities along the way. Spending time outdoors, especially in wild places, is healing on every level. We inspire you to be wilder, healthier, happier, and more connected.

Nova Scotia has always been a destination of natural beauty. We offer healthy meals on our hikes, camping gear, and we have FUN!

Please note: Some tours are designed with novices in mind and inexperienced hikers can be accommodated on some of our trips. All we ask for is good health and fitness, and a keen interest to explore.

Hike to Nova Scotia’s Largest Waterfall

North River Wilderness
North River Waterfall

Immerse yourself in Cape Breton wilderness on a hike to Nova Scotia’s largest waterfall and kayak tour of St. Ann’s Bay. Have fun with fellow travelers around an outdoor pizza oven dinner and fall to sleep under the stars in a beautiful wilderness cabin.

Feel the mist on your face when you reach the mighty, 32-metre high North River Falls—its truly a breathtaking sight! In June through mid-July a large number of Canadian Tiger swallowtail butterflies migrate and take limited residence here and along the river. Keep a look out for possible wildlife sightings, including rare American marten, moose, fox, owls, hawks, pheasants, deer and coyotes. On day two, we’ll paddle the coast of St. Ann’s Bay, stopping at a private beach and waterfall for a healthy snack and chance to dip your toes—don’t forget your camera!

Experience Includes:

  • Full day guided hiking (18km) to Nova Scotia’s tallest waterfall in North River Wilderness Area with Remedy Adventure's certified, experienced and knowledgeable local guides. The tour includes wildlife and plant interpretation, guided forest bathing and a short meditation to open guests' senses, stopping for tea using local foraged ingredients.
  • Picnic lunch prepared with sustainable local ingredients including home-made sandwiches and home-made snacks and dips such as a lemony kale and avocado sandwich, sun dried tomato pesto, roasted red pepper quinoa cakes, and my special pea pesto dip.
  • Hands-on pizza dinner prepared in an outdoor oven with local ingredients.
  • One-night accommodation at River Nest Wilderness Cabins, which feature unique local artwork (double occupancy)
  • Half-day guided kayak tour with North River Kayak Tours, complete with a snack of hand-bagged chocolate chai tea and homemade banana bread with rhubarb jam
